Los Amigos Beach Tulum, Mexico

Los Amigos Beach was a great place to stay in Tulum, Mexico. The hotel that has its own private beach area, and their prices were beyond reasonable. They have wifi, but really who needs wifi, when you have such awesome view and a super cool room with open air jacuzzi.

Los Amigos Beach Hotel Boutique is situated in Tulum, and is 10 km from the Archeological Site of Tulum. The hotel has been praised by hundreds of guests who are ready to visit again, including Michelle and me.

Rooms

The room of Los Amigos Beach Tulum, are very spacious and have open terraces. They only have 11 total units, and some of them have balcony and sea views. The beach front views are perfect for the romantic getaway. Have a dip in the sea and play in the sand on your very own patch of luxury.

All the rooms have air conditioning and ventilation. you will also get the daily house cleaning service as well, or whenever you need them.

Speaking of whenever you need them – this was the first resort we stayed at that had no phones. If you did need anything, the staff was just a WhatsApp message away. Not only is this a lot cheaper for the hotel, it was also a lot more efficient for us. We hope more hotels try this out!

Every room also has its own cupboard and luxury bathroom. They also have a fitness center that can be used by guests staying in the hotel. There’s also have a cabana room that is literally on the beach, pretty awesome huh?

The room also has an outdoor jacuzzi bath. You can enjoy the serenity of the beach and its star filled sky, while have a hot soak. Almost all rooms have huge French windows that open to the sand and beach. They also accommodate you with free toiletries, the chocolate shampoo is a must try.

The only problem with the resort are the weeds in the beach. Either Los Amigos has bad luck with the weeds, or they do a poor job cleaning it out. Either way, they smell pretty bad and make swimming in the Gulf of Mexico weird. If you want to swim, we suggest heading north to some of the bars along on the gulf.

Location

Los Amigos Beach Tulum is located at the southern end of the activities and nightlife, which can all be accessed quickly:

• The Tulum Beach which is 5 min walk away.
• The Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve that’s 17 min walk away
• The Tulum Mayan Ruins that are 6.2 mi / 10 km away, and a must see
• The Tulum National Park that is 6.2 mi / 10 km away, perfect for people who love animals and open spaces
• The Las Palmas Public Beach which is 4.8 mi / 7.8 km away.
• The Playa Paraiso which is 5.2 mi / 8.4 km away
• The Playa Ruinas that is 6.1 mi / 9.9 km away
• The Gran Cenote that is 8.4 mi / 13.5 km away, for a cool dip
• The Cenote Crystal which is 9.3 mi / 14.9 km away
• The Tulum Monkey Sanctuary which is 10 mi / 16.1 km away, make sure you take a little something for the monkeys.

They also offer free bikes to the guests, you can always bike to these locations. Los Amigos is the last thing on the beach stretch which means you can walk to a pretty remote area and have a peaceful moment. The south side has this remote setting, and the north side has bars and restaurants and what not.

Food & Service

The place has very good service and the food is good as well. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel at their designated timings. They also have a mixology bar, which carter to all your drinking fantasies

We recommend the pork tacos, they are a staple in Tulum. The breakfast is free, and includes yogurt, granola, and a variety of fruit.

Los Amigos Beach Tulum – The Bottom Line

Michelle and I enjoyed our time at Los Amigos Beach. Their prices were beyond reasonable, roughly half of what the other resorts in Tulum were asking for. Despite the discount, we still had a wonderful beach view, excellent service, and a very polite staff.

We only noticed the discount from the lack of phones to call for service, and the weeds in the beach. The lack of phones was not a big deal, we actually preferred using WhatsApp to contact that front desk.

Weeds in the beach were another story. That was a little annoying, but not as bad as the reviews we read suggested. You can go for a swim just a few blocks north and take the free bike rentals with you.

If you want a beach front resort in Tulum and save $300+ per night, Los Amigos Beach Tulum is the spot for you.
