Michelle and I had our engagement photos in San Francisco. We took the photos in October 2018, and got incredibly lucky with the clear skies.
San Francisco is known for the fog, which thankfully all disappeared by the time our photo shoot began.
We started in Telegraph Hill, which has great views of downtown San Francisco. Afterwards, we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge to have our second photo shoot in the Marin Headlands.
1st Location – Telegraph Hill
Our first location was in Telegraph Hill. The neighborhood has panoramic views of San Francisco, as well as the famous Coit Tower.
Coit Tower
We walked our way up to Coit Tower, which was actually Rome’s first time there. Our photographer walked us around the tower, and took a lot of great photos along the way.
The area has a lot of interesting vegetation. We never got a picture of the tower, and instead focused on all the outdoor shots.
Telegraph Hill
After Coit Tower, we walked back down to get pictures with downtown San Francisco in the backdrop. We found some great spots on the way down as well.
It is crazy that all of these photos were taken in a city that has nearly 19 thousand people per square mile. You would never know we were in a city like that from these pictures.
Despite having such a big population in such a small area, San Francisco also has one park for every half mile. You’ll see some of them in these photos.
We eventually made our way back down to get some photos with the city. After walking just a couple blocks, you have an entirely new view of San Francisco.
These views show how many people live and work in our city. San Francisco has a population of nearly 900k people, and nearly 9 million people who live in the metro area.
Both Rome and Michelle work in the background of these photos. Our buildings are just a little left of the picture.
We had to fight through a lot of traffic to get this picture with the Transamerica Pyramid & 555 California in the background. Rome worked at the 555 California building when he was with Microsoft.
The 555 California building is the brown one on the right, and is referred by some as the “Death Star”. Aside from looking like the Death Star, they also have tenants like McKinsey, Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs.
Telegraph Hill has multiple views of the city. Aside from the financial district, we took some photos with Russian Hill in the background. We live just on the other side of that hill.
2nd Location – Marin Headlands
Our next photo shoot was in the Marin Headlands, which was only twenty minutes away from Telegraph Hill. After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, we parked at the base of Hawk Hill, and walked our way up.
It’s hard for San Franciscans to complain to the rest of the country about the cold, but it got down to 50 degrees during this shoot. Michelle and I were wearing vests and jackets in between shots.
Michelle and I were just like San Francisco – a lot colder than we look.
All of these views are only 7 miles from where we live in San Francisco. California preserved these area from development, and it makes for a quick escape from the city.
The top of Hawk Hill has incredible views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. We pivoted at the summit towards those views, and walked our way down the hill.
This is the last time we’ll say it – we got so lucky with the weather. Most San Francisco evenings are full with fog, and there isn’t a cloud in the sky in these photos. You can see the bridge, city, Alcatraz, and a nearly full moon!
Our Engagement Photos
The day and evening were perfect for pictures. We could not have been happier with how they turned out, and are excited to share them with all of you.
Our wedding is in seven months on June 22nd, 2019. The same photographer who made us look great in these photos will be at the wedding for all of you as well. We can’t wait to see all of you at there!
